Transgo+Vette servo VS. Interm+Overd Servo????
#1
OK I'm looking at getting a Transgo kit with vette or billet servo for my 03 Silvy and a local tranny place insisted that getting the Intermediate billet servo and the overdrive billet servo(with no Transgo shift kit) would be far superior than going with the Transgo shift kit and the vette servo. Two of the workers told me that? Is this true and/or what are your opinions? The reason I'm getting the Transgo/servo is beacuse I recently installed a Nelson tune and wanted to get those two items before I took out all the torque managment! They asked me why I needed a shift kit if I wanted to remove all TM! I just told them that is why my tuner recommends and left it at that!

THey are morons ... the TransGo changes a bunch of springs in the tranny as well as opens up some feed holes for better holding power no those clutches. There are some other things it replaces to fix as well. I would look for a diffeent tranny shop. THe reason I would go with the vette intermediate is because tehre is a valve you need to add into the case of the tranny when you put the billet's in. It helps with the 2-3 shift and the 3-2 kickdown. The biollet intermediate servo almost requires it, where you can get away without the valve with just the vette servo. The result of not having this valve with the billet intermediate is possibly burning up the 3/4 clutch pack.
I would find another tranny shop.

First, find a new tranny place. Those dudes are not the type ya want working on your truck.
I'd get a TransGo before servos if you are on a budget. 4th gear sucks so that billed OD is a must. The TransGo has stuff like...boost valve, new 1-2 valve, fwd accumulator spring, Low Output/Vette servo springs, HD 1-2 spring, and I think that's about it.
That valve Flyer is talkin' about I'm going to add to my tranny when I drop the VB again to open the feed holes when I get a stall fairly soon here I hope. I'm also going to block a few feed holes and toss a few check *****. I'll keep you guys posted on that.
And also, there's an aluminum 1-2 and 3-4 accumulator piston that ya can get. I think both come in the package from GM. I'd also try to score an extra HD 1-2 spring from Sonnax and put it in place of the weak 3-4 accumulator spring. 4th is super weak on these vehicles...

Well I just ordered the Transgo kit with vette servo and it comes with another piece that Joe at Jagperformance throws in his kit. Allen recommend him so I guess Joe would know what he is talking about!!LOL! I tried to contact kdsperformance because they had a good price but they havent answered there phone today or last Friday! How easy is this install? Im tempted to go ahead and bring it to a shop to do so I can at least have there work warrantied!!!

If you go with billet servos you don't need the 'Vette one.
I'd get...
Either the GM aluminum 1-2, 3-4 accumulator pistons or the Sonnax pinless ones
Sonnax has an aluminum Fwd Accumulator piston too, incase yours is plastic. It's in the VB.
That 3/4 valve Flyer mentioned, it's by Sonnax.
That's about all you can do aside from tearing the tranny apart.
