Default tranny fluid leak from the pan?????

my sister has a 01 tahoe and has reported seeing red fluid under the truck in her garage. Since i live an hour away I had my cousin check to see if it was tranny fluid and where it is coming from. He reports that it is coming from a bolt on the tranny pan. Now i trust what he says, but it seems kinda odd that it would be coming from the pan. Anyone ever have this problem? i just figure with all the bolts holding the pan on and the gasket it wouldn't leak from that point. i could be wrong tho.

not sure, he said it was dripping by one of the pan bolts and is traveling to the front driver side of the vehicle. i think it is a line up by the tranny cooler. but like i said, i haven't looked at it. so hopefully it won't be that big a deal to fix or find.

If its a cork gasket on it that's probably what it is, that type of gasket is a leak waiting to happen I say.

just take it to any aamco and have them do a fluid service on it, its 50 bucks, new filter, new fluid, new gasket, just tell them thats all you want no drive around nothing but a fluid service, theyll do it if you just put your foot down

yes there is a vent hose on it. it is above on the drivers side. check it out. as for the pan gasket i would think it would be the whole gasket more than just one spot.
