Default Thoughts on switching to LS6 or LQ9 intake on 4.8L

I got this crazy idea about swapping intakes on my bro's '00 4.8L for a little extra power. Im not sure how good the stock intake flows but Im sure an LS6 should give it a jump in power. I considered some alternatives, of which was swapping an LQ9 intake since I've heard they flow better than an LS1 intake. I was also thinking about how the torque curve would be affected with an LS6, and if the LQ9 does flow more it should also make torque in a more usable RPM range considering its a truck. Of course Im not sure what each intake flows but I was looking for alternatives to the LS6. Thoughts?

the intake on that truck now is as good as the ls6 intake and all the intakes - 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 - are all the same....truck intakes

The 4.8 and LQ9 intake are the same, so there' no gains there. Seems like the gains with an LS6 intake are very minimal, and hardly make it worth all that's involved with the swap. It may be worth a few ponies in the upper RPM's on a head and cam engine, but a few here have tried it out with there combos and seen very little gains at the track.

I swapped to the LS6 intake on my 4.8 and gained .01 in the 1/8th, however the midrange felt a little better, other than that is was the same as the truck... I have since sold the intake and switched back the truck intake.... IMO keep what you got....

Yes it has a custom Tiburon tune, magnaflow muffler, and a drop in K&N filter. My bro is debating on whether or not to swap out the intake or do the e-fans, pulley, ported TB, and home-mad CAI. We're trying to get the little things out of the way then have Lloyd Elliot do a custom grind cam.

We just did e-fans and TB bypass yesterday and noticed a decent jump in power. SOTP meter estimates around 3-5hp, but if anything the truck seems to have a little more power off a stop. At least the truck stays a little cooler in the Tx heat

Today we're gonna work on porting the TB, removing the EGR petrusion behind the TB and filing down the throttle stop so the TB blades fully open. Noticed that the blades open like 85% due to the small tab that stops the linkage.
