Default TC install help

I'm still new to engines and all, and was wondering about what you have to do to install a different TC like a 3000 stall. How do you drop the tranny? Lol, do you think I should try it on my own?

I think that if you have no experience working on late model trucks or at removing an automatic transmission. That I would find someone to install the converter.I would find something easier to work on for your first project.

I did mine and it wasn't fun, but now I'm doing an engine swap and it isn't fun either. Yes you have to drop the trans, but it isn't that bad if you have a little experience and one of the service manuals. A transmission jack is a must have. I did it with a regular jack but it was a b@(*h. My friend dropped a tranny on his face like this and it wasn't pretty

Don't do it yourself if you don't really know how. There is a good chance you can get to some point and go, "How the hell am I going to do this?" They are right. If you install that TC wrong on the input shaft then you will in fact destroy the pump and cry like a baby.

And BTW..... get a tranny jack if you do (against the advice of anyone who knows what they are doing) decide to do it on your own. I used parts of a ski bridal, hooked it to the tranny, lifted it, hooked it to the underbody, and then got under it and bench pressed it the rest of the wayand started threading bolts. It is a royal PITA! Get a tranny jack.

I would go with everyones else says one this one. The TQ is just one of those things that is pretty delicate on the install. It can make the tranny go boom and I know I would not want to spend 2K on a tranny. But if you can get someone that knows and help them that way you learn. Hey but there is always a first.

did mine by myself with some buddys and a regular jack. pain in the ***. but i had to learn how to do it. i want to learn as much as i can about these trucks and having someone else do my dirty work just ins't right. defently get a trans jack. and i dont think it will be AS bad. if you have some kind of knowledge about trans then do it. i had a chilton to help me too. but it was defently a PITA.
