Straight pipes

I got straight pipes on my silverado, with cats and a y pipe, I like the sound, but my buddy has the same thing and his truck is louder, if I cut my cats off will it affect anything?

ya i lost about 1-2 mpg but also could be cuz i loved the sound an couldnt keep my foot outta it

It will be allot louder, you will also have to have the tune changed. Oh and it is illegal. Just a fair warning, come inspection time if you have inspections you will have issues.

If you want it "louder" then what you need to do is get yourself some 5 or 6 inch diesel tips and weld them onto your exhaust pipes. If you go from a small 3" pipe to a big tip, you get big amplification.
