Default Sticker shock! Am I crazy or are they?

Took my Tahoe to the shop and was going to have them hack off the muffler straight pipe it, go over the axle with a single pipe and make a small after the axle for my tips. They wanted $250 for 2.5" pipe and wouldn't come down at all on the price. I was thinking $180-$200 for 3" pipr walking in the door. I offered $225 out the door and they said they couldn't do it cheaper then the $250. So I will be looking for another exhaust shop.

Am I crazy or are they?

How much have you paid recently for a simple exhaust job.

I was quoted $120 to have my down pipe from the turbo welded to my cat back. The shop was uneasy about quoting it though because I didn't have it there for them to look at. Still haven't had it reconnected.

$20 for my wastegate muffler setup.

he bent it, flared the muffler outlet and bent me a 2" turn down. made sure everything fit and mocked it up about 5 times to make sure it cleared everything.

Cant beat that!
exhaust guy here is cool, love stuff different like the turbo trucks and enjoys helping us out.
So i go to him for all the exhaust stuff, even taking the Samurai up there to get the headers back ran.

Shoot i had a local exhaust shop weld up 2 mufflers for me. He had to make a ypipe and cut the stock muffler out and add a few feet of piping. He charged me 40 bucks for it took him over an hour to do. He also did my brothers exhaust from headers back for 100 bucks. So to make your point that exhaust shop is the crazy one lol
