they will probably ask weight, they need to know that it's all wheel drive, what rpm the boost comes on if you just go off idle, peak boost numbers, and they might have you fax them a dyno sheet. you pretty much can't give them too much info.

you don't want to buy one that way. you can buy an off the shelf unit, but for the same price you can get one that is built for your truck to stall at the speed you want it to.

Not trying to bring up a little bit of an old thread and hijack it here, but, why not?

I originally bought a hughes Performance Street Master 2500 converter for my truck, ya know, I wasn't going to do that much to the truck. Ya right, famous last words. Anyways, I love the converter, but I just installed a comp cam and need a little higher str ratio to get off the line a little quicker. I'm not even real sure what the STR is on the hughes 2500, but I don't think it is much higher than stock.

Anyways, trying to decide between a Vig 2800, Yank 2600 or 3000 (if I go yank, will most likely go 3000) or others. Is there any other manufacturers that offer anything in the 2800-3000 stall range with a higher(2.1-2.21 etc.....STR) I was looking at Performance Transmissions and they offer converters there too, just never heard of anybody using them. Any Suggestions?

Check out the Truck Drivetrain Section and look at what Yank can do to the Trailblazer stall for $250...pretty interesting.

Vig will "custom" make it however you want, exactly how you want, for your exact truck, mods, weight, etc...

kinda takes the value away from the tb converter if you add 250 on top of the purchase price.

You really can't compare the two. You're talking about one that will be ok for N/A applications with not a ton of power, or one custom built to your exact vehicle that can handle any amount of power you through at it properly. To save only $500 , especially for something like mine, I'd never skimp. If you can get away with a TB, you should. But if you're ever going with some serious power don't waste your money only to have to get a better one to handle you new found power down the road.

Hell no, definitely not in your case weedo. But I have a feeling your making a lot more power than most of the truck guys here on the site. In my case saving the few hundred bucks having the TB converter re-stalled by Yank would be a great option.

I wasn't suggesting that you skimp, but for most of us here, the re-stalled TB, would be just fine and be able to save a few bucks.
