I'm thinking about going with the Yank TT3000. It's not billet. I'm not sure if this matters. I've read all the "what stall to buy" threads, but I'm still not sold on: Yank, PI, TCI, etc...
Where have you guys purchased your Stalls, what price, what unit, etc?
What level of Stall do I need to go wtih given my power figures (which remember are much lower as I'm losing about 30% to the wheels).
Thanks for the help as usual!

My Yank TT3000 worked great on the blue truck. I bought it when the truck was stock so by the time I started making over 500rwtq it was stalling at around 3.5K or more under a boosted launch. Great drivability
I am now getting a PI 3200 3-disc stall because it's the only one I would trust under this much TQ and weight behind it and in an 80E.
In your case you need to find out where you start really making power at and try to get the stall to get you there as quick as possible. IE if you are starting to make big power at 3.5k rpm then you'd want to be somewhere just before there I believe. I can't remember the exact formula but that's the gist.

Yank makes a SC3000 made for high horsepower supercharged and turbo trucks.I've run one on my Tahoe with no problems and very good drivability.I went with a 10.5" 3disk Vigilante with my new setup and I'm having good results with it also.

I wonder if a 3200 would be too much or feel odd during "normal" driving? I wasn't planning on going higher than a 3000 stall.
So are you recommending a PI for me rather than Yank? I know it's just your opinion, but since you've "been there done that", I'll listen!

Honestly bro I don't know.
I only know that in high HP applications some converters have a tendancy to blow up or balloon. I didn't want to take that chance and since I am swtiching to an 80E I can't reuse my Yank and if I am going to spend $700+ on a new converter I am gonna get the best I can and one I know will be built FOR ME and not just taken off the shelf like some companies do.
I think ProStock John would be a great person to ask. He has been through a TON of converters and knows a lot about them.

i posted in the drivetrain section but no replys.. figured most of you avid racers were in this part of the truck section so here goes
would you reccomend a stall for a 04 4x4 ECSB truck? I need something that can tow trailers from time to time.. wont be doing that to often though. But would like to be able to still do so if i had to.
Next, i would also want something thats fine in 4x4 mode
I farm, work offroad so i need 4x4 to function good still. Nothing like putting her in 4X4 and letting her rip down a 100yard dirt strip lol.
so with that in mind, what are some good dependable converters and sizes I should look into?
I have a vig3600 in the car and ive had it for 4-5years with no issues. Does vig have a truck converter that factors in the trucks weight and usage? I want the truck to still be a truck in other words

i agree that the 3 disc vigilante is pretty damn strong but my buddy has one and says it is way to tight for his liking and i know that a lot of the people in f-bodies do not like the yank there was a thread on it a while back and a lot of people went to the tci and loved it hell my buddy is running 390 rwhp on his z28 on a 100 shot and he routinely uses a 150 so i dont see why the tci would not work and i have one and man does that thing flash JMO
