A buddy of mine had some hedman shorty's so he gave them to me, is it even worth the trouble of putting them on since they are just shorty's ive got a bone stock 4.8 with a spintech and K&N CAI, and plan on a tune here shortly.
tell me what you think theres the link to the headers

Most people will say shorties are not worth the time or money, which is true for most situations. The power increase is very little since the stock manifolds actually flow pretty well. Going against most opinions, I have JBA shorties on my truck. I didn't really feel a difference in power.....maybe a better top end but it might be in my head. The main reason why I got them is to keep my truck legal and I never really plan on turning my truck into a performance beast. I'm sure most of you will probably laugh at that though.
The good news is the install was very easy. Bolt off and bolt on!

Try to sell them and get a pair of long tubes, the gains from shorties are very little to none. I ran a pair of Gibson shorties before I went with long tubes and the difference was night and day from shorties to LTs.

The only real gain is the change in the tone of the exhaust. I had Edelbrock shorties and it sounded much better than the stock manifolds. Then I switched to Pacesetter LT's and it was even better. Personally, I'd skip the shorties. You can pick up a pair of Pacesetters for like $350 from a sponsor.

If you sell the shorty's, you probably won't get more than $100 for them. If you get a set of Pacesetter's, you will have to buy their Y-pipe kit to mate the headers to your cat-back, or have a muffler shop weld you up a 3" Y-pipe, which will cost over $100 in itself. If you plan on modding your truck further in the future, then go ahead and sell the shorties and drop the coin on the Pacesetter setup. If this is the last mod that you plan on doing to your truck, other than a tune, then the minor increase in HP from the exhaust setup probably won't offset the cost in your eyes. In that case I would probably bolt the headers up and have the cats cut off or gutted at the same time. Then have your truck tuned and forget about it.
My Pacesetter setup came off this site "New", but used, and cost me around $350 when it was all said and done. IIRC there was a set of LT's and Y-pipe for sale on here recently... shop around.
