Default Shift kits, are they worth it

Are shift kits worth it? It looks to me that they are hard on the transmision.I got a jet power-shift plus and now I have second thoughts about putting the shift kit in!Thanks for any help on this subject.

it is well worth the time and effort. shifts much more faster and it is a little bit hard on the tranny but not extremely bad.

had mine in since february, about 10k i guess. I had the shop put in 2 washers and it shifts FIRM. lol But I havent had any problems with the durability of the tranny. Every now or then, it seem like it will stick in a gear at low rpms for a sec, but then it shifts. Only has happened a few times since, it may have been there before the shift kit too. But yes definitely worth it, I think

the kits come with washers, they look like little cylinders, anyways by putting diffrent ones in you can change the firmness of the shifts. i have the performance ones in mine, or the ones that make it shift really hard. correct me if im wrong people but this is the way i understood the directions when i installed mine.

Yeah, I have the TransGo shift kit (NO washers) and both billet servos...I can bark my 285 AT's out back on a 1-2 upshift also. I have like two boltons on my truck with no computer tuning.

It is a nice quick, tight shift at lower RPMs but grabs well at higher.

The one i got just has differant springs and the jet control box.Instuctions say i can install it with the trans still in,but i also have to take and drill a hole out change a sping in the pressure reg valve train in the pump.Is the pump behind the touque convertor? Can i get to that from the pan like the instructions say,or will i have to pull it?The shift kit came from Superior transmission parts inc.It looks like its simple to put in.
