Default SES Light (kinda long)

Went to Showfest in Grenville, MS this weekend. The show rocked!

To make a long story short, my buddy was driving the truck, and he was running on the high side of 100 (more like 105-110, and even up to 120 a couple of times.) When we were cruising at these speeds, the SES light came on. And stayed on, even after we let the truck sit for a few hours. After the truck sat overnight, the light went off.

We woke up the next morning and I drove from Jackson to Greenville, MS (about 3 hours)and the light never came on. My buddy drove the truck on the way home, and the light came on. Same scenario--the light went off only after sitting overnight.

The only change that I made to the truck b/f the trip was the FIPK kit--just the airbox, not the intake tube (still waiting on elec fans.)

Sorry for the long post...just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions.

Thx, Scream

Sounds like your truck doesn't like your friend. <img border="0" alt="[jester]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_jest.gif" /> I would bet you had a random misfire. Just get it scaned with a code reader or Autotap it. If you don't notice any other thing that is changed, it's probably minor.

Yup, just from what you described i would think it was a multiple misfire code that was being set off. The more RPM's turned, the more there is a chance for the computer to miscalculate stuff. If the SES light turns off, no big deal I guess. Yeah, I'd agree with Fast4.8, I think your truck doesn't like your buddies lead foot <img border="0" alt="[jester]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_jest.gif" />

My light went off overnight. I have no idea how that could have happened either. Couldn't have been the N20 on a lean condition <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Scream, I doubt you have a major problem. You would notice something by now.

It seemed to run fine as far a accelaration. It just sounded like ball bearings were in the cylinder, a real bad knock.

Thanks for the info guys! As always, you've been a great help! I told my buddy that it was all his fault! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Will the computer "save" the code even though the SES light's been off?

I'm just a little hesitant about my particular motor--my "piston slap" is the loudest I've heard and it seems to be getting worse. I'm just afraid that something's going to let go if I keep on modding it.
