I understand what you are saying completly, I am talking about the possibility of shavings already being in there! How is a thread chaser going to get those out?

After he used a thread chaser to remove whats in the threads then yeah he could do that but me personally I wouldnt until I backed off the rockers and closed the valves then blow it out. Doing it after the threads were chased would be a good idea

hopefully man, my gf always gets mad when my truck is all broken and stuff so if the engine is screwed for a while im gonna have to pimp slap her and tell her to deal with it so that wont be fun but who knows, she'll never have to find out. i know everyone goes through these periods but this is just a bad time with college starting in 12 days. and i have to get there... but hopefully the thread chaser comes through for me. is this a fairly small tool i can attach to a ratchet or am i going to have to remove the passenger side header? please lord no.

It is like 6" long and yes it attaches to a ratchet. You may have to remove it in order ot get a straight shot I dont have pacesetters. FYI, you can pick up nice 5.3 shortblocks for 500 bucks.

BTW i knwo this is a terrible idea but what if i just screwed the plug in as far as i could? ha ha how would the engine run then? or if i did that and disconnected the coil pack for that cylinder and just cruised on 7 cylinder?
this is all what if, i wouldnt do it unless i had to drive to a mechanic or somehting and didnt want it towed.

That would be the best way, and definatly closing the valves would lower the risk of more potential harm unless it goes out the exhaust side.

Well you could cause more damage, and if it dosent seal properly it could leak and possibly blow the spark plug out, there is what 180 PSI in our cylinders.
