rocker torq specs and crank bolt probs.
#1
First, im putting a cam in my 99 GMC 5.3 L truck. i have everything off BUT the crank hub/balancer. Im trying to get the center bolt out that screws into the crank, i cannot get it. i first tried an impact, then a breaker bar, then a breaker bar with a 2 ft extension. before i get too crazy with it, is there a trick to this? is it reverse threaded or something? Also, could someone give me the torque spec on tightening the rocker arm stud nuts? thanks

Try wedging a lug wrench with the curved end into the pulley and the straight end into the cement and braced against the crossmember. Then I pulled like an SOB but it came out easier than I expected. Once you get the crank to stop turning you can get better leverage. I used a 2 foot handle with a 2 foot exhaust pipe over it

240 foot pounds is not the easiest thing to break free.
