reverse split cams
#1
Does anybody have any first hand experience or know of someone that has with reverse split cams? Ive read pretty much all i can find about them, still curious what actual affect they have/make. Many people say there not right for LS engines, and "Ive herd" this or that. Looking for some sort of factual info plz..

it was in a lq4 in my truck with a supposedly 3200 stall i cant remember the numbers i made with it. they are not cams that make a high peak number but the power curve is very broad, im wantin to think i made 330 hp and 289 tq, the converter is very damn loose and it would flash to 4400 on the graph. but in my cousins truck with the stock converter it made 385..it was a nice all around cam in my opinion, but some one else could think completely different

My girlfriends first 98ss had a LQ9 with a 234/228 572/584 112 and put down 406 with headers and full exhaust. I swapped the motor into her newer SS and now have the cam in my 70 shortbed witha swapped 5.3 (not running yet).
It was a good performing cam and seemed to have good power everywhere.

ive never ran one but ive always like a reverse split that MTI used to make, it was a 230/227 111lsa...... i would had like to try that back then.... i know a few people running reverse splits on 5.3's and they are liking them as well....

I am running the cam in my sig with no complaints. The only thing that should do is get a converter (thats another story), because the power doesn't come in as low as I would like. I don't have a chart but if I had to estimate, its making about 75% of its max tq at about 2800, and then pulls real hard all the way through the shift. I am thinking about changing cams, after doing a bit of research, I think if I make a few slight changes to the cam that I am running, it will run better.
