Default Rear gears change, what's involved & how much?

Ya know I posted that I got some Escalade rims and tires, and my 3.73's effectively went to 3.55's. I did lose some performance and now I think it's time for some 4.10's. First, if I bought the parts, what would I need to buy and how much would it cost? Second, how long would it take a gear shop to do it so I can figure out labor cost?
Thanks, Jim

~$200 for gears
~$100 for install kit - bearings, gaskets, shims, etc
~$200 for install of gear set. Should take 3-5hrs appx for a competant shop to complete.

I would replace the G80 posi also while it is all apart if you plan to get more power eventually from your truck, they are notoriously weak. Eaton is by far the best one around and can be picked up for around $350 or so.

Hope that helps!

I had mine done at 4-Wheel Performance and the total came out to a little over a grand. They replaced the bearings, ring and pinion, and the G-80 was trashed for a detroit gearless locker. I droped it off Wed morning and picked it up Fri evening, but that depends on the work load.

Anyone can install a locker, but the gears need to be spaced and shimmed just right. Unless youre pretty skilled at this Id let a shop do the install.

Don't go to 4WheelParts
They wanted $550 for just the install
I found another place that installed my posi and gears for $200.
So total was $760 for eaton, 4:10s, install kit and the install
