...How do you get those sobs out?!
I got kit to replace my e-brake shoes but I can break those bolts loose. I have tried a cheater and a hammer with no luck. I dont have a 1/2" universial to get my impact on it so I guess I could go get one and try again tomorrow. Anyone have some tips to get them out?

Just use a shallow 18mm 1/2"drive socket and a nice size breaker bar. I just did a rear diff overhaul on a 02 silverado today at work (at chevy dealer) and did that same method. Works every time.

yeah, mine were a pita to get off too. i just used a rachet w/ a piece of pipe for a cheater and they finally broke loose. broke one rachet in the process though.

Thanks for the tips guys. I am going to stop and get some extra tools and try again this afternoon. Hopefully I will have some good news by this evening.

Well, the loooong cheater worked like a charm. After buying the new shoes, the old ones looked good as new except for where the pass side was draging on one of the corners. I adjusted the pass side but I broke the head off the bolt that holds the retaining clip on the drivers side. I cant figure out how to get it out without pulling the axle out.
So currently I only have the pass side ebrake but it is holding very well now.
