No edit, and have not dynoed yet. im using a custom tune form Allen (nelson performace). The tune needs work, timming is too low like you said only 8-10 degrees at WOT. That should be fixed shortly, he is going to update my PCM. As soon as everything is dialed in with the tune i will strap it on the rollers and see what she does.

why did you choose the nelson over the magnacharger tune? Does it make a big diff in power? Just wondering if it is worth me forking over another 400 bucks. Im going broke quick, and I hate to start patching **** together until I know its working fine.

Update:

I called magna today and it seems the guy in receiving didn't send the blower over to the warranty dept. So, it looks like overnight shipping was a waste Terrent said he would have it evaluated by 10:00 am their time on monday morning, have it rebuilt if needed, and have it overnighted to be at my shop by 10:30 tuesday morning. I REALLY hope it does have a problem because that would hopefully solve my issues. I also sent the programmer, which I doubt will get taken care of monday, but I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Night and day difference on the custom tune versus the Superchips program. But, if money is tight, the Superchips tune should do you for a while. A lot of power to still be had. It leaves a lot of power on the table.

The Superchips tune is an extremely conservative tune. It runs 'pig rich' (in the words of another forum member) to avoid deadly detonation. There is enough variance between stock vehicles (in spite of the fact that they are all supposed to be the same) that they have to account for the leanest outlier vehicle and program to it. The end result is a very rich - many time unnecessarily rich - Air/Fuel ratio over the entire throttle range. This is where a custom tune can find horsepower normally left on the table.

Naked, a man after my own heart!! I have the same setup on my avy, and Allen is trying to get me dialed in running the 3.25" pulley (thanks again for getting me the pulley Brian), but I am having detonation problems. Granted, in CO we only have 91 octane fuel, but I am determined to get this thing running strong at 8-8.5psi. What tune are you running and how much boost?! I switched back to the Magnusun tune and it runs better but immediately starts setting P0420 or 430 cat codes (my version of edit won't allow changes to be made in those values in the diagnostic tables for some reason). Any ideas?

Edit: Didn't realize you are also 'Fan Guy', and I have been following your trials for the last few months both here and on the CAFCF forums. Believe it or not, I actually started getting somewhere when I went back to the Magnusun tune as many of the others--while performing better in most respects--did not work for me in the end as they simply tried to put too much timing in and I just got more detonation and then lost even more timing all the way down to 2 or 3* total timing. But, even with the tune not quite right, my truck still hauls ***!! I can only imagine with certain excitement what it will be like when Allen gets done working his magic!!

Still on the stock pulley and a heavily modified Superchips tune. I went up to Magnuson and they did a few things to my tune up there to coax out some more power, using LS1Edit, wideband, Tech II, etc. It is running better now, but I think they were at their limits as far as how many tricks they could pull out of their hats. I'll likely be getting a Nelson tune as well in the very near future.
