Default Radix, poor results so far...

I installed an intercooled radix kit on my 02 5.3 extended cab. I dyno'd the truck before and got 249 hp and 295 tq in 3rd gear, and 270 tq in second. After the install I only get 306hp and 360tq. After talking with magnacharger and checking everything we have came to the conclusion that it is the intake air temps that are getting it. The IAT sensor is now after the blower, and intercooler. The readings go all the way up to 160 degrees on a 1/4 mile pass, or on the highway. I have checked everything with the intercooler, all seems good. Now we are thinking it could be a problem with the blower itself. It makes a noise resembeling a coffee grinder when in boost. I am not sure if it is normal, but it doesn't sound right to me. I am supposed to talk to the sales manager tomorrow to see about getting a replacement, but I thought I might seak out more opinions.

When using the autotap, I am getting as low as 13 degrees of timing, with no knock retard. Magnacharger says it is due to high IAT values. The only thing I changed from the install is a set of NGK TR6 plugs gapped at .035 because a few people told me to, and I figured it couldn't hurt.

The IAT values have me baffeled, because this was at less than 70 degrees outside that night, and during the days I made the other datalogs.

Here are a couple of graphs.

retsell: First off welcome to the board, I see this is your first post here! We are very glad to have you! There is obviously something going on there. I think it would be a good idea for you wait and see what Magnacharger comes up with before you form any wrong opinion about the Radix. I had one on my 5.3 and it made more power than that, you have to remember that every vehicle is different, and every dyno is different. I am sure you will find that the customer service department at Magna will provide you with the best and most knowledgeable people in the industry. Please keep us posted on your progress, and don’t let the results get you down. I am positive that you will be happy with the results. I am sure more happy Radix owners will respond here soon.

moregrip: don't let 1 out of 1000 determine what supercharger kit you are going with. I am sure you have seen the other results of the Radix on this board.

Blown's right .. the kit is simply amazing! I think you should be seeing more timing than that though. Those IAT's are a little high. You might try getting a 160* tstat. My IAT's were at 145 this weekend at the end of my passes, and it was about 75 out. Is you air filter clean? Check and make sure you don't have a rag or something in there stopping it up.

That coffee grinder noise is the rotrs in there wearing so that they have a perfect mesh. That's part of the break in. Give it some miles too, that may help as well.

There is no comparison really between those to.

What do you want to achieve? That will decide which one for you. How do you use your truck and what's your plans for it.

Don't form an opinion yet. I am still working the bugs out. Nothing with performance works right for me the first time. I guess I am just unlucky!

Magnacharger was saying that I should not get over 135 on the highway on a pass. He said they could be a little higher at the track due to heat soak and stuff in the staging lanes. The noise in the blower has not gotten any better with miles, I have about 700 or so miles on it since the blower install. He said I should only hear the coffee grinder like noise at 0-1 psi and not at all after that.

My best run at the track was a 14.491 at 93.4 (I think the mph is correct within .3. I dont have the slip in front of me)

I was somewhat impressed with the time, since I only put down 306hp to the wheels. I only went to the track to get some decent datalogs, I was expecting worse times.

They definately said that 160 degrees is WAY to hot. It pulls back 1 degree of timing for every 10 degrees, starting at 125.

My truck shifts at 5200 and rev limiter is at 5800. They say that the truck is supposed to shift at 5200-5300 and the rev limiter is supposed to be at 5800. The shift points seem low, as well as the rev limiter, but whatever.

I am still working on it, but I am looking for any person's opinion or advise that could help me.
