after my little LS1Edit cable fiasco I have decided to skip rebuying Edit and purchase a Predator (it does 98% of what I want), I have a few Q's though that I hope you guys can answer....

1. can you do "custom" tuning for 87 octane or do you have to use the 91 octane tune ??...I ask b/c gas is still EXPENSIVE in CA

NO-91-93 Octane only-you can adjust WOT timing only. Will ping at cruise with lower octane...

2. does it completely remove TM ??

Almost all-close enough

3. how high can you set the speed limiter....at least 125 ??

YES

4. can you adjust torque converter lockup ??

NO-Why would you want to?

5. Granatelli says you can "create custom tunes on your computer and upload them to the predator"....how ??, does it come with software and a link cable to do so or is it just editing a text file or something ??

No-Dealer creates custom tunes and emails to you-you load per serial port on unit

6. does the tuning affect tow/haul mode or is that left alone *or* can you choose which mode to program...kinda like having a stock tune and a tow/hual *** tune

There is tranny adjustments for tow-haul and non tow-haul / you can adjust each differently if you wish

I have already d/l'ed the owners manual and read it cover to cover...these were the questions that the manual doesn't cover

thanks in advance

I just uploaded my current truck tune (from my predator to my cpu with a serial cable/ac adaptor) to Johan. He had me drive my truck around for 30 minutes while monitoring the LTFT's. He told me to take an average of them and let him know the figure. I also sent him some of my dyno charts with air/fuel readings.

Johan is was more than happy to help tweak my tune a bit for more performance. So far I am very impressed with diablosport/Johan's customer support/service. Very cool!

Why not just get your Edit situatiuon fixed? The Predator does hardly anything compared to Edit, and must be returned to the dealer for custom tune, IF they have a custom tune, or CAN make one for you. I have inquired about one for my truck, and was told they didn't have a tune, but would call me, so they could make one. That was a year ago, and two emnails ago, and nothing since.
I think I may have read about your cable fiasco. The dog ate it or something? It was discussed on the Edit mailing list, if so. Just get him the info he needs, and he should fix you up. Sam
I fought the good fight...I was called a liar and a thief for doing what I thought was right way to go about things (not directly or by anyone here)....
so I am kinda sour on LS1Edit and for what I need right now the Predator fits the bill...and it takes the place of AutoTap too as a scan tool

as for the custom tune....I have ordered a Predator from Summit (gift certificate reasons) but I should be able to contact Diablosport directly and have them do a custom tune if necessary correct ?? (even if I have to pay for it that's OK)

and for the 91 octane reason....couldn't you retard the timing slightly to prevent knock with 87 octane (kind of defeating the purpose of the power tune but it should work..right ??)

and why would I want to adjust torque converter lockup ??......so that it doesn't lock up unless you are in overdrive...I may even install a toggle switch eventually to solve this issue...pounding on the gas at low RPM's with a locked converter is frustrating sometime, sure it downshifts but the hesitation until the converter unlocks gets on my nerves...right now I drive in T/H mode most of the time in town to prevent TC lockup

The only way to run 87 Octane would be to have them download the factory program to use for timing and fuel.
You could then use all the other features of the unit!

So with a preadator you have to run 91?

With the Predator tune, yes you have to use 91. That doesnt mean you have to keep it that way. Thats why you can have a custom tune made.
