Default Predators back

I'm still not convinced this programmer is great. My time are now 14.7 with the new program up from (14.02 with the Hypertech), almost idenical conditions.
I got a custom tune and still needs to be tweaked.
The stall is working again and barks the tires at evry shift, but wot at the track I can litterally feel the power slowly dying.
Another problem is I can have the shift pressure increased and shift time decreased during tow/haul mode only- a truely awesome feature when it works-BUT when I turn the tow haul off it still does it rendering this feature useless. Does anyone else have this problem.
I remeber Big tex describing driving around with soft low shifts for evry day driving than hitting the tow haul and for the performance mode.-An option available with Ls1 edit. But advertised to work on the predator.

Well KR is still 3-4 points wot, My readings are around 850-900 mv for the o2 banks and my ltrims are -.78% bank 1 and -2.34% bank 2. I don't know what this means exactly- too rich too lean? but diablo said to call them with the readings. I have spent more time on the phone waiting than I have driving this pos in the last month.
I'm not even close to what I was running consistently before and Why does this programmer need so much attention. I have all the coommon bolt ons, it is not like I have a radical cam or something?
What are some fuel setting and spark settings I should start playing with. What is the rule of thumb?
+Fuel% -Spark?
Before someone says I might have something wrong I did nothing but change from the hypertech to the predator.
14.02-hypertech(wasn't a freak run, ran it consistently on three seperate dates.)
16.00- predator- sent in for custom tune
14.7- predator custom tune
This is at a professional nhra track with nearly idenical conditons, wheather, temp wind etc.

You might try backing up the WOT timing some to try and get rid of your WOT KR.The KR could have alot to do with the feeling of loosing power.Back your timing up 5% and see if you KR changes any.Somtimes adding some fuel will help with KR also.

Thanks, did you utilize the tow haul performance setting options and does it work?
Did you seak to johan for your custom tune or running with the devil?

I went through James at running with the devil.I tried the tow/haul method once, but I dont now.I just have my normal shift pressure at +25 and shift time at -25.

I am ready to buy a programmer but with all the talk about the problems with predators lately I am very, very hesitant to get one at all. Anyone think they are still good after having them for a while? Would you still buy it if you were in the market for a programmer today, right now? Also if i am getting a programmer and need to run 91 oct but am currently running 87 should I go the next two fill ups with 91 before I install the tune? Oh and I need responses as quick as possible, cause I want to order it tonight!

If your Ltrim readings are correct then your right on the money at part throttle. But if you saw .850 on the 02's then your a little lean at WOT. I'd bump it up to maybe +2 or +3 percent and check them again. being lean is also playing a part in your KR too so you may want to adjust the timing back at the same time like ranwalk said and then bump it back up if you can.

I'm using regular mode for all my settings and left tow/haul alone and it works like it always did.

I can't imagine it not kicking the hpp3's butt. Hope you get it all worked out.

03rado, I wouldn't take double what I payed for my Predator. I've had it now for a couple of months and hook it up to the truck at least weekly to either tweak it or just watch the sensors and haven't had a single glich with it.

Putting in some 91 first is a good idea cause it'll ping for sure without it.

Thanks,
if bank 1 ltrim is one side of the motor and Ltrim bank 2 is other side shouldn't they be the same? I'm glad to here my numbers are right on.

As far as octane, I run Sunoco 94 and a 180 stat and still see KR with the predator or the hyp so maybe the headers no cats and kn are just alittle too much?

As far as the Predator vrs Hyp the Predator is a better tool and definatley performs better on the street, ie part throttle kicks hyp ***.
Maybe I should go down the 1/4 , 3/4 throttle
But and it is a Big But my truck runs better in the 1/4 with the hyp.

I'm going to try to up fuel a little and reduce spark.
The 02 are Bosch from auto zone, maybe I should get some GM direct cosidering I get evrything at cost.

I would recomend getting a Predator it is just my truck needs a little more work.
As far as shift time and pressure I tried +12 pressure and -12time and it shifted so hard I spun evry gear alot, even with the 20's. I set it back to 0 because I have a built tranny and shifts good as is.

anyone else have an opinion on the predator, is it worth the 400 and the extra cost of 91 octane?
