Power Steering pump ?'s
#1
Hey guys im planning on doing the hydroboost swap on my truck soon and im wanting to put a new powersteering pump on my truck like came on the hydroboost vehicles. Mine is already kinda noisy and im afraid it will go out shortly after the swap or get even louder, thats why i want a new pump. Any pump should fit off of a early-mid 2000's HD truck, tahoe, or suburban right?
Also i was wondering do remanufactured, or rebuilt powersteering pumps not last as long as new units? If i go new, i'll get an ac delco pump but they are also about $120 where as the rebuilt pumps are about $50.. I just dont want to get a rebuilt pump and a year down the road it's gone out or going out.
Thanks guys

Save yourself the headache and do a new pump from GM. The reman pumps from the parts store are junk. I went thru two of them in a weekend before I went to the dealer and got a new GM pump. The guys at the part store didn't bat an eye when I asked for a refund on the second one as they know they are junk and change them out all the time.
They hydroboost and non-hydroboost pumps are the same. Only difference is the extra bung in the reservoir for the additional return line . However, there are two different pumps, a long shaft and short shaft version.

Would a pump off of a 02' or 03' 2500 hd fit as long as it came off of a 6.0L truck?
Thanks

PT.net users got you covered, the part numbers are listed in this thread please click the link and read.
Hydro Boost LINK
This is the thread I used to perform my conversion, I was able to get all my parts from a local junk yard for exactly $250.00, make sure you pick up some newer GM power steering fluid and new O-rings for the high pressure lines. I was able to swap the entire front engine bracket that holds the idle pulley, alt & PS pump, since the pump pulley some times strips the shaft and also in my case damaged my Snap-On removal tool, the junk yard gave me a another pump and engine bracket.
hydro boost is a great brake upgrade, next is to install my SS brake lines since I did not have time to get them installed during the hydro boost conversion
