Default Possible plans for the LS1...Few Questions

See, I work as a CNA at the local Veteran's hospital. I'm working on getting into clinicals cause I'm going to Nursing school. A few of the people I work with said that a bunch of the hospitals will pay off up to $5000 a year of student loans, when hired. If this is true at the hospital I work at, I would have at least $2000 now and at the beginning of next year that I could spend on my truck! I'm fixing to find out more in a little while.

Anyways, if everything works out, I will defintly put some kind of forced induction on my LS1. Wether it be a Radix, Procharger or a Turbo.

My question is, since I might be running 5.3 heads, could I run the 5.3 heads with stage 2 headwork and use real low compression pistons to make up for the increased compression from the 5.3 heads? THe reason I ask, is because the 5.3 heads seem to outflow the LS1 heads by looking at the flow charts I've seen. This is just an idea as of now, but any help is appreciated.

I might just look for the #317 heads off a 6.0, but that would set me back a little more.

I will get forged internals if the blower/turbo goes through. Then I would have to start saving for a heavy-duty tranny rebuild, LS1 with heads/cam/forced induction = hell of a lot of power! The list seems to never end...

I would go with the 6.0 heads for the decreased compression. If you want them ported .... get them done, but I wouldn't go with the 5.3 heads at all on a boosted engine.

Well, the blower thing is out. There was some hidden catches to the student loan thing.

But, I am still going with the Heads/Cam for the LS1. That should make plenty power itself.

Blake, how much do those run? Not like I can afford it or anything, just curious...

you can but like everyone said id go with LQ9 6.0 heads. they flow better then the 5.3s and it will lower you compression ratio down enuff where you wont have to pay more for custom pistons. i beileve they lower you compresion down a point(not sure though) some where around there
