Default Pacesetter Header / Noise

Installed my Pacesetter about a month ago repaired broken bolts and running good. Except noisy. There is this fuzzy or leaky noise coming from the exhaust. Installed the pipe joints and sealed with band clamps. Is this a typical noise? Should I go ahead and weld up the y-pipe joints connecting the two sides and the piece after the y-joint to the muffler flange?

Sounds like junk driving along side a wall or low speed stuff where I can hear it.

P.S. this is running back to a large 22” magnaflow dumped before the axle.

Default It is probably

valve tick. You will usually get that with long tubes. Unless you actually have a bad gasket or exhaust leak at the collector.

i have the same noise. it annoys me. i'm actually going to be welding in some cats on my off-road y pipe soon and hopefully that will help calm down the noise. we'll see if it works or not.

Pacesetters have that "old school" header tic. Like you would expect when your listening to a build muscle car. But not a flutter. Band clamps are great and we all use them but they can leak. Just clean off the surface and seal both sides of the clamp with high temp RTV. That should solve your problem.

I woulden't worry about it dude. Mine does the same thing. At first it drove me crazy. I went over the damn thing with a stethascope and coulden't find anything. Like posted above, the will give you the "classic" valve tick sound. It comes with the territory. If you got it loud enough...you won't hear it...lol.

The thin metal of the Paces make them loud.

With my head stuck under the hood I cant heard mine make any noise. Quiet as stock.

same thing with my pacesetters. i've never posted about it because i didn't know how to describe the sound. its like a disel truck sound. you hit it on the head that it sounds fuzzy.
anyway, is there no way of fixing this fellas? i would like to get rid of that sound for sure.

The engine compartment is quiet as usual. It seems as though that after the collector is where the noise is coming from. More audible sounding under or besides the truck.

Is this where people have installed bullet mufflers to help with?
