Default to p&p or not to p&p...

well...ive got to pull the heads on my 6.2 so im thinking about having them p&p some and possibly a valve job. i am also thinking about putting LS3 intake valves to lighten up the valvetrain some.

part list will be:
new lifters (caddi racing 8k rpm)
new lifter trays
LS9 head gaskets
new cam to be determined after i get the motor apart

i will continue to use my stock L92 intake and stock tb

Kinda depends on how large a cam you pick. If the cam peaks at 6400 or less I wouldnt bother with LS3 valves IMO. Just run a good stout double spring to control the valves. Also would steer away from the Caddy lifters. They are overpriced and have heard of failures. Stock GM LS7 replacements will do just fine, again IMO.

How big a cam are you looking at? Those L92's flow pretty well as-cast. Not sure the hp-to-dollar ratio is there or not for porting unless you were going to work them over yourself.

I have a hook up on p&p and ill let a place close do a valve job.

I spin 6700 now and the LS7 lifter already went out with less than 30k on them.

It has patriot .660s now and i plan to go back with them or maybe a PAC1518.

.615 max lift. My goal is 108+ mph in the 1/4

How much lifter preload were you running with the LS7 lifters? What failed with them? I shift at 6900-7000 in my Z28 and I havent had an issue at all with them since 2009.

my goal is 108+ mph but my e/t goal is a 12.4ish full weight CC n/a. i know it'll be hard for me to get there being i added weight but it's a goal.

now i just have to find time to pull the motor apart to double check that it is just a lifter.

Did you replace the plastic lifter trays? Half the time a lifter fails it's because the worn lifter tray allows the lifter to rotate in the bore. When I replaced the lifters in my GTO, I got Lunati link bar lifters and tossed out those crappy lifter trays.
