overdrive/ underdrive pulley??

Default overdrive/ underdrive pulley??

which pulley do i need? overdrive or underdrive? i just bought a 00 chevy with the 5.3 and im looking for bolt on power before i throw on the bullydog triple gt tuner.

Underdrive, you want everything to spin slower and hence want a small diameter pulley.

thanks, so whats the purpose for the overdrive? is it more suited for supercharged applications? or what? i was thinking about ordering it from texas speed & perf, so i figured id ask on here b4 i called them and asked

My guess is for stuff that is usually low speed like off-road vehicles and rock crawlers. In that case you can either make all of the pulleys smaller (alt, power steering, water pump, etc) or make the main pulley larger which is cheaper and more economical.

A lot of guys buy underdrive crank pulleys then overdrive alt pulleys to keep the alt at the same speed with the new pulley....although then the smaller crank pulley isnt quite as effective.

gotcha... yea my main goal is to get some more "bang for the buck" trying not to invest a lot of cas in this truck since its more or a work truck but POWER is always GOOD! until shyt starts breaking...

A good tune would be a lot more noticeable than a crank pulley change.

No, but I promise a custom tune from wheately or blackbear would be much better
