Default Help!!! low oil pressure

I have low oil pressure on my truck and i cant figure out whats causing it. I put a brand new ls6 oil pump in with a new o ring and the oil preesure is still low. Im using 10w30 and my oil pressure is 20psi idle 35-40psi cruise 50 psi wide open. i guess it my be a cam bearing problem but Im not sure. If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate the help.

Thanks

Justin

Pinched oring maybe. I had that problem, but my oring wasn't new. The new one I put in fixed the problem though. If you're postive it isn't pinched, I'm not sure what it could be.

If the sending unit is going out would it read low numbers like that or would it just go straite to 0? I know it kind of bounces back and forth at idle between 20-25 psi.

No i dont think thats it. My oil pressure was the same before I installed the new ls6 oil pump. Think for the thought but I dont think thats the problem. My luck it will be a cam bearing.

If it was doing that before the new oil pump too, then yeah, you probably need to check the oil sending unit. I'm not sure where it's located or how to do it. I just know that little demonic rubber oring caused my problem.

can you pull that little plug out that the sts kit uses and maybe hook a oil pressure gauge to it and test it. just a thought. have you done anything else to the motor besides the cam? could be a clearance problem. theres no nock in the bottom end is there.

you put that motor in not too long ago didn't you or am i lost. did you check all the bearing clearances in the bottom end. has it been like that since you put it in or what??
