I wonder if someone made a mistake and installed a ring set upside down.

I'm thinking so, there had to be a mistake some where, but I'm still puzzled that if the ring packs were installed wrong on all or even one piston, I would thing it should have been smoking right off the bat. not a couple weeks later.

It's true, I have seen engine's run low on oil, Not had the oil changed properly and look like tar inside, and well maintained engines.

Form 50K miles to 200K miles. None of them needed the guides replaced. These Powder Metal guides on the LS are pretty resilient.

Unless you bend a valve and crack a guide or something along those lines, I haven't seen one yet that needed even 1 guide replaced.

Hard to say. Maybe you were just unlucky and all the rings lined up on a cylinder or 2 after they seated.

Unless you have an issue with 1 or both heads. I think with that much oil, it's going to be in the bottom end.

I am just as curious as to what the issue is.

I think I'm gonna do a leakdown test and maybe pull the heads to see, but with this texas heat right now, its gonna be miserable, anyone wanna come over and help??? LOL!

I'll take a few pics during and maybe with the scope before I pull the heads.

Im not arguing that at all! Its just that I tried to sell my WCCH heads and some ninny thought it was fair to lowball me on the grounds that "he would just feel better replacing the guides for his .600 lift cam"

Yeah, no. Only LS7s have had issues that I have ever read
