Default not to happy with ho 5.3 in Z71

i realize they changed the rear axle to 342s instead of 373s but this engine seems kinda peaky. after 65 the truck starts to pull pretty dam good but otherwise i will order the regualar 5.3.My first tank of fuel averaged 17 which is not bad with 200 miles on it.I cant really figure out where the diffrence of power came from

I think 3.73's are the best gears for a 4L60E equipped truck with 31"-32" tires.

I think I would go with the 4.10 if I had to do over again. I have the 3.73 with hte stock tires (about 31") and it needs more gear. The 5.3 I have now feels the same as what you are describing. After 30 it is a completely different animal.

Default Hmmm?

I would have to drive an 05 LM7 before I have forsaken the L33. I believe it is all TM. I think GM is tuning for MPG.
With the L33 having more compression or, Teflon coated-floating wrist pined flat top pistons, LS6 heads, and a lighter and deep skirted block, I would just plain have to stay with it.
I'll have a 93 tune soon enough and I'll bet it will show up then.
Since the Corsa and the Drop in K&N with an AirAid MIT, the truck is a bit better. The way she roars at both ends now is nice too.

I like all the new components. So far the motor is dead silent. No signs of slap or ticking. Every motor, the 5.7 and 5.3's I have had made noise after going to synthetic. I am running Mobil1 5w30 and still no noise.

Put a higher stall in, shift kit and delete tq managment that will completely change the way it drives and feels especially at lower speeds you can smoke the tires till your hearts content. Of course with the higher stall Id say bye bye to 17 mpg

TM ain't going to change hardly anything off the line. That is due to the simple fact that our motors are LSx based and don't start making real power till 3000rpm and the trucks have 3.43-3.73 gears with tall tires which makes it seem like 2.73s or 3.23s.

You need a converter if you wanna get off the line faster. Plain and simple, or seom 4.56s. Anything short of that is going to show dismal results.
