Muffler Help.. Hooker Max Flows?
#1
I was wondering if anyone has any input or thoughts on these. I am pondering what I want to do with my exhaust possibly this summer. I am looking for something with a deep noticeable rumble, but not overly loud. I am planning on replacing the entire exhaust eventually. Plans are for LT headers and no cats and a single 3" exhaust. I just can't decide what I want for a muffler. I don't care for flowmaster and while everyone loves their Corsa I don't want to spend that kind of money right now, also I think I want something with a little deeper rumble than the sound of the Corsa. Feel free to give me all your thoughts criticisms and input.

If you want it sort of loud, then I would go with a good straight through muffler. A magna flow, and a dyno max Ultra Flow. They are both very similar in that they are straight through. Are you going to go with a 3 inch from the headers all the way back?
You could also go with a true dual setup with 2.5 inch pipe, and put an H or X pipe in there to balance them out. I am not sure if that would make it run any better than a 3 inch single as I have never seen anyone try that on a dyno. I am just old and old school, so I think that every truck needs two pipes on it. Not sure that is actually a good thing or not.

I am planning on going with a single 3 inch from the headers back. Not sure how I want it to exit but something different from factory for sure. Maybe exit in the same location but angled down behind the rear tire, or possibly just dumped over the rear axle. I don't want it to be very loud, just an nice deep rumble. I really liked the way my Dynomax super turbo mufflers sounded on my old 383 chevy, but those cheap *** mufflers don't last very long. I might look into the Ultra flow mabey with a bullet. The only thing that concerns me with the Hooker Max flow is that it has the fiberglass in it and I don't want to buy something that will only last a couple of years.
Thanks for you help and opinoins! Keep em coming if you have any more thoughts.

I think the Dyno-max website has a couple of sound bites with 5.3's on it. I have Super Turbos on my 5.3 and they are 2.5 inch internal tubing. They are the shorter bodied muffler, so they are sort of loud. They sounded really good until the metal around where the pipes come into it, cracked and broke out causing it to get really loud and rumbly. I like the sound of the Super Turbos, but I am not sure they will stand the test of time. These sure didn't.
