Default Ls1 Intake

Will a LS-1 intake manifold off a 1997-2003 Corvette fit a 5.3 liter silverado engine? I want to make my 5.3 look like it's a corvette engine.

if i remember right, someone asked this question a while back, it will fit, but i think the intake tube will hit the belts or something. like i said, it was a while back so i may be wrong.

the TB will be too low1. i think that was the main problem. think is the key word here. lol. hope this helps

If you go w/ the LS1 intake, you will have to go with all of the LS1 front accesories also. Water pump tube and TB location are definitely different and believe the belts end up getting in the way.

Here's another option: F.A.S.T. LSX intake
I don't know what it costs, but it's ready to plumb in a direct-port.

You will loose a little performance with the LS1 intake. The 01-03 Vettes have LS6 intakes w/o egr. The 97-00(I think) have the LS1 intake...some with the egr. It's not as simple as just swaping intakes and going down the road. Fuel deliver systems may also have to be change depending on which one you get. But Yes, it will swap out, but it's pretty involved and not the best bang for the buck.

First off, it will cost you about minimum $500 to do trust me The truck water pump works fine, but you will have to swap the alternator/power steering pump bracket. The F-body power steering pump and alternator are different, so you will have to buy those. There is a hole missing on the iron blocks for one of the mounting points for the alternator bracket. However it works fine without it. (but I wish it were there) The power steering stuff all lines up to the stock truck heads.

Now the fun part. The truck accesories sit about one inch farther out than the F-body accesories. So, you will have to get threaded spacers (the strongest way to do this) and an inch longer bolts for all of the brackets.

Then, you would have to buy new injectors because the truck ones are too short to work with the F-body/Y-body('vette) fuel rail. When you change injectors to the taller ones, now you get into some fun wiring. You have to buy new injector clips. I found awesome ones at www.summitracing.com They are an MSD product (I can get you the part number if you have decided to still do this project by now)

It is involved. If you get it right, it looks sweet! Honestly though, I would try to just save up some cash for an LS1. But if you wanted to do an LS1 later, you would already have all of the accesories - except water pump (which you don't have to do anyway) and AC compressor brackets to make your truck compressor fit onto the LS1, it has to sit back farther so you would need those brackets (they are less than $40 i think)

If you think I am crazy for doing this, give me about a week. I will post something really cool!!!

I forgot, If you do this, get a '98 'Vette fuel rail as it has both feed and return fittings on the fuel rail. This way you can just hook your truck fuel lines onto it.
Also you will need the F-body idler pulley to go onto the F-body alternator bracket. It is smaller than the truck one, and the truck idler will not allow the belt to move -b/c it is too big it squishes the belt.

Couldn't you just redirect the belt?

I think this would work, just remove the top pully that's just below the TB. I belive that all the accesories would rotate the same way.

that pulley doesn't do anything so i guess you could remove it if you wanted to if you found another route that worked without using it....someone else will have to chime in on that.
