You will have to use your computer because the difference in transmission.

It is easy enough to tune for a 6.0 swap on the engine side. It's going to be no cake walk that's for sure though and going to be even harder to nail down a modded engine if you've never done any sort of tuning before. Keep your cat converters and it will pass the sniffer test.

GEN 4 and 5 computers are most complicated to learn than the older gen 3 ones in the NBS body style.

HP Tuners is my choice, I've owned it for years now and has a great forum and support.

Also note that with extra power comes extra stress on that 4L60e, keep that in the back of your mind because they aren't all that strong to begin with.

i definitely plan on swapping in a 4l80 in the near future. Not at all familiar tuning with computers. i would rather look for a kit that comes with a cam and a tuner for my application...?

The problem is that they don't make anything that is just a plug and play type tuner for a cam swap.

Every engine is different and not everyone lives in the same place so the demands of the motor are always changing. There just isn't a way to plug information in and be right for everything.

Anything past a catback exhaust and like a air intake upgrade require a "re-tune" of the factory calibartion to support for the mods done.

An engine swap and cam swap would need changes to cylinder volume, VVE tables, timing curve, MAF airflow curve, fueling changes, idle air flow changes and so on. A custom tune is the only way to go on this setup.

thanks for the info! it all makes sense. I may go back stock for now since this a daily driver and i need to get it back on the road. I still need to reprogram my ecm to work with the 6.0. does this need to be a custom tune or can this be more of a plug and play type tuner since it would be stock?

You need to tell the ecm youre feeding a bigger engine, though it should in theory run on the factory tune, just not optimally!!!

Ok, so I picked up the ly6 today and the guy I bought it from runs a custom fab shop. I am going to change the cam, vvt delete, and he is going to do the tuning for me. Should have it going in a week or so!!

Any updates on this? I have a LC9 that I'm looking to swap to a L96. Very interested in your outcome.
