I did some googling and got lots of hits. Some of which are not very optimistic but I didn't read them all.
The only reason I would do the same is if I had no PCM to control the EFI. But you still need to control the spark.
But you have your reasons. There are some pretty reputable people who came up in the subject you are asking about.
