Heat shouldn't hurt anything if you're just putting it on the big nut. Also, it's best to leave your belt on.

If all else fails get one of those really big pipe wrenches put it on the fan nut. Now start the engine and when the wrench spins around and wacks the chassis the fan will come right off by itself.

You shouldn't have to take off those four bolts on the fan, just that large nut. Just keep knocking the pipe wrench with a rubber mallet. Should come off after not too long. Trust me I had the EXACT same problem as you before.

well, more problems and few missing teeth out of my friends head....i got the nut off no problem this time around but the funny thing was after i test fitted the fans drilled all the holes started with the wires, so my friend drops a nut and it gets caught in my skid plate, so he jumps up on the bumper, slips and drives a screw driver through my radiator, so now I am shopping for a new radiator tomorrow and finishing the fans.....I hope nothing is ever this frustrating again...just a run of real bad luck for me i guess.

well got the fans working, but i could only test them to come on at 100% when the a/c is on because of the leaking radiator, bt the best part is that when I turned the fans on my freind with the missing teeth got a face full of coolant.....i said i dunno how that happened ..but neways putting a new radiator in tomorrow and then gonna have to tweak the temp guage and i'm all set. Thanks for all the help.
