Default I think I might have a problem!

Well just finished up the cam swap, started the truck up everything was good and now it has a crazy valvetrain noise. I put the cam in turned the motor over by hand several times, I quess if the Piston to Valve clearance was going to be a problem I would have seen it then, Correct? Well It sounds like a sewing machine, just it has never sounded like this. Anyone have any ideas? Did the lifters pump up causing a P to V problem?

Well I quess I had a lifter that needed some oil, Everything is all good now. I went back out started it up and it got quiet. It scared the hell out of me! I know that this combonation is close with the P to V clearance, so this is why I thought that.

I took it for a ride and it feels alot stronger than the other cam, the power is very smooth. It seems to come off idle better than the other cam also. It idles with a very faint lope, almost like a sleeper. I am very pleased so far

How is your oil pressure? Sounds like the oil pump pickup "O" ring got cut during the cam install. This happens very often to even the best installers. Was the lifter preload about the same as the old cam?
I'll be in the shop till 2 this afternoon. Call me and we can go down the list of possibilities.

Everything is good Richard. It must have been a lifter that needed oil. I went out and figured if the pistons are hitting the valves it would blow up when I gave it some gas so, I went for it and it got quiet! Just scared the crap out of me thats all.

I know one thing, its a whole new beast.

Not going to the track until next month, Etown opens in Feb. I hope to get to the dyno next week or two.

The cam is a Comp 220/224 581/581 on a 115LSA
