Hmm. Then howcome the dealer didn't recommend or (even acknowledge this recommended interval) when I brought the vehicle in for servicing over the last 2 years?

Be carefull when pulling the module apart as to not break off the plastic tabs. If you would like to see how it is done Magnacharger has good pics and instructions on there web site.
Where did you buy the filter? The only part that GM sells separately from the whole module is the fuel level sensor.

Here are some pics from the Magnacharger instructions for my vehicle. I added the arrows indicating the filter. The instructions are only for replacing the pump. Haven't seen anything wrt the filter.

Changed mine last night, could barely blow through it , and you could see plenty of trash in it. Truck has 60,000 miles on it.

I change my truck's filter every year.

You might also consider buying gas from another station and see if that makes a difference. Maybe the tank at your normal station is dirty. (or their supplier is delivering contaminated fuel)

I was riding in a friends diesel through Canada once. Truck ran great for most of the trip then suddenly it acted like a four-banger. Turns out the fuel from the last place we stopped was contaminated with water. (supply tank must've been low...)

Sorry to hear that the fuel filters on the newer trucks are buried in the tank. Makes me glad I have an '02.

Cool

My '03 Owner Manual recommends changing the fuel filter every 30000 miles.
