If you've been running ethanol blended gasoline(gasohol), it's most likely your filter is gonna plug sooner for a little while. Gasohol is very clean, and it pretty much washes the varnish out of your tank. In Saskatchewan by 2006, I think all gasoline will be blended with a little ethanol. The plus side is that it will be a higher octane for the same price as regular.

Yes you will have some gas come out, mainly from what is in the filter. What I usually do is just take an old towel and stuff it under the filter and it soaks up any gas that does come out when the lines are loosened.

You have to replace the entire tank module. Pump, filter and fuel level sender. GM calls it a "lifetime" filter.

On the 04's you can replace just the filter, I did mine when I changed the fuel pump. You have to drop the tank and remove the fuel pump module. Be carefull when pulling the module apart as to not break off the plastic tabs. If you would like to see how it is done Magnacharger has good pics and instructions on there web site.
