I have the large oval tips from Meg's. I love them. They do change the sound.
The exact same exhaust system on the Yukon(with smaller tips) is waaaay raspy. My truck has a "deep burble" to it, if that makes any sense.

I think they tighten the sound and make it crisper. Maybe even a little louder
Running the muffler straight with no turndowns seems to be deeper. But I think the exhaust might burn stuff.
The trans am style turndowns are stainless steel made by pypes.
I just want to try something different. I think a pair of big wazoo tips will make the tone deeper. Old street rodders called those style tips echo cans.

You could try dumping your current exhaust and it will get louder, but it won't sound like the Flows...Flowmasters are pretty distinct in their sound.
As for your misfire, if you know that spark is good, O2's are good, I'd take care of the basics first. Check compression to make sure that there's nothing mechanical, and if that's OK, check fuel pressure, or you may have a bad/clogged injector. You could try running some injector cleaner through it or swapping injectors from one cyl to another if you know which cyl is misfiring at this time. If you swap that injector to another cylinder and the misfire follows it, the injector is at fault.
