put it in 2wd, turn the boost all the way down. turn on the gtech and punch it from an idle. see at what g's the traction lets go.
change something and do it again. one setting should get to a higher g than others before it peals out i would think.
i am sure it wont be that easy but i am going to try it.

sorry to hear the new tires suck. You could try droping the pressure, but when i drop mine to @20psi i seem to spin the tires on the rims. Throws them way out of ballance. The tires you got are more for road racing and performance handleing. The side walls are alot stiffer than stock, to prevent roll in corners. Not the best for your application.
Best chance you have with those tires is to drop the pressure to get some flex back, make sure there clean, and you may need to glue them to the rims. Since mine were glued they havent spun on the rim yet. Not too sure how hard its going to be to change them once i get new tires though.

you guys suck
, ok just kidding but i talked about tires for awhile, tried to get an idea of a good tire and now it's like i should have known these wouldn't hook?
soo, now that we are on the subject, does anyone have a sugestion for a tire that would hook beter than a stock 265/75/16 and is at least 30" tall.
i am still hoping i am just doing something wrong. i did only get one run and i hit them hard. not quite ready to give up yet.

My BFG AT KO's have way better traction then the firestone stockers. My 5.3 couldn't break them loose, no mater how hard I tried, thats not a problem now.
You could get some soft snow tires, they should hook good, it may be a bit hairy on the top end.

I'm with Black. I missed the post where you asked about tires, but I used to run my own tire shop/garage and for what you are trying to do, the BFG A/T is probably the best choice. The Pirellis suck IMO-they look cool but are too hard and stiff for drag racing.

i know that some tracks won't let you drive around the water, but either way i'd still stop and clean them off. doesn't need to be a full burnout or anything, but it sounds like spinning them is no problem for your truck. over the years of racing 2wd's, i've always done this for better 60' times. if you just roll up there, you stand a chance of bringing water or dirt with you to the line. you could try and drop the torsion bars down a couple turns to soften the spring rate in the front in an effort to get better weight transfer as well as try and keep the front planted just a bit longer before they don't have enough weight on them to stay hooked. i'd guess with the tires you're using that 28-30 in the front and rear should take care of it. the front does need to be just as low as the rear on pressure since you're taking all the weight off of them when you launch. you probably could have went with yokohama AVS S/T's in a 285 60 also and maybe had a bit softer of a tire. i have however noticed michael tomac runs one hell of a 60' time on bfg all terrains, but he also has a front air locker i believe. you're slowly getting the the power range that the syclone guys have gotten to and decided that 2wd with slicks is the way to go instead of using the awd/4wd set up since you're launching hard enough to be putting almost all of the weight to the back.
