Default how to hook best with street tires?

went to the track last night. i only got to make one hard run and it didn't go so well. 12psi and a 100shot and i completly blew the tires off, they didn't have a chance. i spun all 4 past the 60' mark.

my tire presure was 34psi, anyone have any luck droping presure on street tires? should i clean them off before a run? should i warm them up? seem like the stock firestones hooked up better but i didn't get enugh runs to say that for sure. do tires hook better after a few miles? btw i am running 285/65/16 perilli scorpions, they do look prety cool.

i did drive to the track, run an 11.5 at full weight (including the gate and pasenger seat). Then drive it home 60miles in the pooring rain. 11.55@117 with a 1.80 60'. weak 60' and i it was missing bad up top.

11.5 isn't bad. Just be glad you didnt have to slam the brakes mid track.

I run 285 70 16 yokohamas and they don't hook as good as my stock tires did when they're at 35 psi. I drop the rears to about 23psi and drop the fronts to about 28. This gives them a flatter contact patch.

Try that. Maybe you should go g-tech some 60' with different pressures.

Hey Parish I find that if you just clean them off mine hook pretty good. not a smoking burnout, but just enough to get them cleaned of the debris in the pits, and staging lanes.

Make sure you drive AROUND the water box ... I dunno if you are already doing that, but doing so, and cleaning the dirt off them should help a little.

also, the stock firestones i think were 4ply tires.. so they will flex alot and help with your traction. i bet the pirilies are 6 or 8 ply, and are more rigid. therefore they will spin intead of geting a good bite.

Why don't you go practice on the street and see what works best?
