The thing about the 60E in a heavy truck is that no matter what it WILL fail eventually, how long it last has a lot to do with how you drive really. If you wanted to have a more reliable trans, the 4L80E might be something to look into for your goals or reliability.

What's everyone else think about this setup? I'd think VERY low 13's at the minimum(talking sea level track )
Anybody know when the 60E becomes just not enough, I will admit I do drive everything I have like I stole it...What all is needed to do a 80 swap??

550 tq is when maximum I'd go

more or less depending on if it's your only form of transportation or if it's a weekend warrior.

what you mean by "reliable"I want to be able to hammer it when I get the urge and drive it the 1 mile to my work...I do have other stuff to drive if it goes down, I just don't want it down all the time
time period for all thisNo real time period, I'm not on a deadline I just want to enjoy my truck and eventually run 12's or at least some low 13's but with a kickass 60' (I mean a good 60' on the street)
your exact goal for 1/4 mile timeAnswered above
If you are willing to use used partsYES!!

I already posted a bunch of stuff to get you started. Hell I posted up a bunch of stuff to get your running 12's. There is no reliable and cheap way to run a 12 second 1/4 mile fur under $15000. That's what I'm telling you.

I'm not hiding some secret "ultra charger" that allows you to hit 600 rwhp and not break transmissions.Didn't figure you were
I appreciate all the info provided thus far, but no offense you were sounding like a broken record.

I have no idea what mods it would take to make 550, or how fast 550 will make the trunk (on average obviously no one knows exactally how fast it would be)...but do people start having problems with the 60E in the 13's or 12's or 14's?? I'm talking about a built 60e of course.

A built 60e with a few extra parts is a 4L65e...Mine is holding up pretty good BUT i won't be too surprised if blow it out (bummed, yes) at my current power level. FLT recommends a 4L80e at over 500rwhp.

I have no intentions of going as fast as you trever1t, think it would hold up to high 12's with maybe a couple of mid 12 passes every once in a while??

I think people are blowing going 12.5 all outta wack here. $15k sounds crazy.

I will use my truck as an example for the 4L65E since it is the same weight as yours. With the RADIX at 7.5psi or so and the other mods in my sig I was making around 530flywheel hp give or take to go 13.25. The transmission was fine for a while with just the Magnuson tune. I don't know really how many miles it has with the blower but, probably between 5-10K miles. It slipped going into third the last time at the track and was on a 13.0X pass too. I also daily drove the truck but, was not too bad on it, maybe 5-6 WOT blast a day.

That was a completely stock internal 4L65E with just tuning.

A built one will last longer but, you just have to figure it as a wear item at these power levels IMHO.

There are a couple of 4L80E swap threads on here but, I remember you saying you don't have a lot of time to be online. I will look for some and post the links tomorrow.

Now, to get to LOW 13s I have a stock 6.0L with the mods in my sig. If you do a cammed 5.3L with a few more psi I think you will easily make up for the displacement difference between our trucks. Add the converter to that and I think you will be very close to your goals. Then it might be a matter of a few smaller mods to push you over the top.

A 4L80 would be prudent but like me, you probably could get away with a built 65 for a while. If you root on it a lot, I'd say no. Most of my driving is calm and out of boost on a daily basis to work and back.

Thanks for the info man, I'll do a quick search while I'm in the office right now, no need for you to do a search for me, unless you know of a particularly good thread...If so I'd appreciate you sending me in the right direction.
