Default Help me identify my metal shavings!!

So....I pulled the oil pan to change my oil pickup tube o-ring (low oil pressure problem), and I got a little surprise!!

Any idea what these are from? Some are metal and magnetic and some are not metal. None were stuck to the oil pan drain plug. Spun bearing? I didn't have any weird engine noise.

That does look like bearing material. Cut open your oil filter and see what you can find.

I can hope for that.....seem to big and too many to be something normal....

I pulled the windage tray but don't see anything obvious. Everything looks clean without tearing into the motor any more...

That is hard to tell believe it or not. Those are pretty good pics. Maybe a few more details of individual pieces at different angle on your finger tip? It is hard to tell in 2 deminsions. Also, which ones exactly are magnetic and which are not?

Question....if I pull the bearing caps and the bearing is good, do I still need to replace it? Or can I just put the cap back on it?

The shiny ones are metallic, and the darker ones are not even metal (or don't feel like it). The dark ones are brittle and not magnetic.

I wonder if thats from your oil pump? causing low oil pressure and not o-ring.
