Is there any particiular reason you want true duals? 2.5" into a 3" pipe will flow plenty for a N/A 4.8.

I started out with the Gibson SS shorties and mine started to rust also. When I switched to the FLP Long-Tubes it was a BIG difference. Improvement thru-out the whole RPM range and allows the motor to rev-up quicker.
I have a whipple, so that probably made a difference in the amount of improvement. I think the motor really needed the help on the exhaust side.
If I had it all to do over again, I would go with long-tubes from the start. ASMs or FLPs. I held out for the more expensive FLPs simply beacause they are 100% bolt-on and I didn't want to have to drive uncapped to get them welded. Wanted to do it all in my garage.

if you want a set of shorties i have a set of edelborcks sitting in the shop right now you can buy. as far as exhaust systems, i just installed some HAMM headers on my 02 truck and had mandral bent 3" run into a custom x pipe into dynomax bullets dumped and the performance difference is amazing, it pulls much harder, the bottomend is much more alive now, can't go wrong with this setup.
