Default Head gaskets ..

I've popped another set. This makes the 2nd set I've been through with the 6.0 heads on the 5.3. COuld it be the difference in bore size popping the gaskets or what? I'm using the 6.0 gaskets, and I really don't htink I'm at the power level of gaskets being a problem.

I'm really wondering if it's those damned studs backing off. It seems like I've read of that in the internal setion, but that was long ago if it was.

It's rough on a cold start, but once it warms up, it's perfectly fine. I don't get it.

I didn't have problems with mine and you know the power level I was at.

I don't think Jim did either.

Mine were studded. Are yours or just bolts?

ARP studs, first time torqued to 70 like they say, 2nd time torqued to 75.

They are GM 6.0 geaskets.

I have heard that the MLS gaskets arent as good for high cylinder pressures (boost, n2o) as graphite gaskets. As far as I know GM only makes a MLS for the 6.0 so you may have to go with a Cometic. :dunno:

I am using the MLS gaskets. I've heard that Cometics don't seal real good unless you've decked the block and heads. :???: That's the 1st I've heard of them not sealing though, the MLS's that is.

Anyone know what gaskets Parish was/is using?

I've thought about the FelPro's but I dunno. I really don't wanna do this a 3rd time. I'd like to go ahead and build the ls1 to put in it, that way I would be able to start over fresh, but funds are to tight right now.

I remember seeing Parish say he overtorqued his by 15lbs after lifting his heads twice I believe. Not sure of his gaskets.
