Default Got my tranny gauge and air/fuel gauge in tonight. Got a question

Well, install was long and boring, but I guess it was worth it. The tranny ran a low of around 140 and in town with alot of red lights and stop signs it got up to around 170. Is that about what it's supposed to be?
Also, on my air/fuel gauge. It dances around alot from perfect to alittle lean and back again. Is this supposed to constantly dance like that, or is something wrong here? Thanks guys, and this may seem like dumb questions to some of you guys, but this is my first experience with both gauges.

170 to me is a good temp to run. especially if you are playing around a little. mine runs around 150 to 170 all the time unless i get on the freeway and cruise. then it will go to 150.

The a/f gauge is doning nothing more than reading the voltage of the 02 sensor output. During cruise it should sweep back and forth. Cold start will stay one place until warm. WOT goes rich side. Let off accel will stay lean for a bit.

My tranny very seldom sees 150 just cruising. I have the towing package in a 4X4 with the trans cooler though.

Good deal on the temp. This morning it was pretty cold heading to work, and the temp stayed down around the 140-150 mark. Last night, when I was playing around a bit, it stayed around the 170 mark, so I think everything is good to go there.

Thanks a ton on the explaination on the air/fuel ratio. You described what it does perfectly, from cold startup to the wot and off throttle speeds. Looks like everything is as it should be.
Yeah, my tranny never got over 145 cruising last night, so I see my permacool tranny cooler is doing its job as well. Thanks again for the replies, guys. I'll get some pics up of all my gauges. The digital gauges are the exact look I was going for.
