Default Fuel pump making noise...

I can hear my fuel pump making noise even when the truck is off. Anybody know why this might be? The only way I can stop it is to disconnect the negative cable on the battery.

Is it a sign of failure? Why would it be so loud? The tank is about 3/4 full.

It does it with the truck on, off, and key out of the truck!

Cool

Check the ABS control under the truck in the area of the driver's door. When they are going out they tend to run even with the key off. If you do a search you should find some more info on it and a place that rebuilds them if you are out of warranty. Well at least that is what it sounds like to me. Maybe pull the ABS fuse(s) or relay and see if it stops.

You know, I remember seeing the ABS light pop on. I guess I'll do a search for this now.

It is probably the ABS pump running as said before. Pull out the ABS fuse in the underhood fuse block, if it quits, that's it. I see a lot of them in the dealership. The relay is internal in the module ans it sticks. The module is the black part bolted on top of the ABS assembly on the frame rail. It's easy to replace with the right tools, just 4 screws and 2 wire connections. I think it runs about $900 at the dealer though. You might check A/M availability.

Well it is the "ABS module" thing. Once I get the new trans in I'll take it to a dealership since it's still under warranty, hopefully they'll service me after all of my mods.

If not they will have to explain how your mods caused the issue. Congrats on finding it!
