A bad balance job on the rotating assembly is also very hard on the bearings and might show up as crank flex.

Any force sufficient to strain a metal will bend it. Not too complicated.

I would think you could degree the #1 cylinder vs #8 cylinder and they should be 90 degrees apart. Anything off would indicate the crank is bent. I have never done this, but if it were bent I could only assume this number would be off.

To really see if it is bent you will need to remove the crank and measure the runout on the journals. Here is mine when I bent it,

When I got my Eagle crank there was paperwork in the box that said .002 was acceptable(I will see if i can find the paper). I checked it and it was at .001. I spoke to my machine shop about it, and he said half of the oil clearance is acceptable. I checked my LY6 I am building and it was also .001. That engine had 90K on it and completely stock, never even had a tune in it.

That must be a typo:

Yeah, the vid shows .002-.0025, not .020. Happy to point out people's mistakes.

I don't see myself making enough power to flex the crank. I can only hope so.
Drew was telling me about your build

Yea I forgot a zero haha, I saw 0.0040 though.

Heres the limits:
Crankshaft Main Journal Out-of-Round - Production 0.003 mm 0.000118 in
Crankshaft Main Journal Out-of-Round - Service Limit 0.008 mm 0.0003 in

So clearly its no good

Lol. He ratted me out! Drew has done a lot for my family. Would do anything for him.

As atomic has said, everyone is building a 408 s480/80e combo. I'm just another one. Not much for this kinda stuff up here though. I had to do everything myself. Learned a lot off of here. I do love making some cars look bad.
