In fairness to Chuck, I went into this knowing my setup was an R&D project and we're still working out the kinks at this level. The first one was installed incorrectly (we think) and the second one had a little problem with a silly plastic part (check valve) -- I would've had the same problems the first time, but the second one was a new part we tried to help handle the boost I'm cranking out -- didn't work out, but it's all good in my book. Neither of them broke hard parts and Chuck took care of them all on his dime. I'll take that kind of customer service any day of the week. Show me anyone that can build a tranny to hold this kind of power and WARRANTY it... Chuck does both at lighter weights and I'm willing to bet will be one of the few who do it at 5400lbs.

2bseen is putting down big power with a couple of n2o shots (one of 'em is a 200shot I believe) on an FLP L5 and has no troubles.

I'm not gonna open my mouth about power, torque and the third one (jinxing everything) but I will say I fixed my cut-out today, which might give you an idea of how priorities have changed

alot of "big" names on here referred me to him
because of the outstanding service they got
as well as the product
even though it broke Im still satisfied with the decision I made

I have a warranty, and they're fixing it for free, but I'm not sure how much power I'm allowed to make to have the trans handle it. We'll see...

Now come on, tell us what kind of power you're making!!

I'll go this far:

It's gone beyond 'stupid-fast' on the street and has entered the 'scary-fast' realm - SOTP it feels like low 12's/high 11's in low boost (8psi) without meth, and a base street tune. It also feels like there's a lot left in the tune.

Changing into a new cam this weekend, and then it should be all tuning for power and tire smoke ( and maybe a little surprise )

I have had good luck with my fl5 so far. I have about 2500 miles on it with 10 strip passes on 125 shot and a built 408ci motor. I will be going up to a 200 shot in the next week or 2 and installing a fast 90 intake and ssr t.b. also. I am not saying that I wouldn't consider a 80 but they don't built one for a awd yet.

chucks a good guy

finally got her out
man Im getting good at this
I think it broke a hard part
if you look down the input shaft
you can see chunks of metal about the
size of a pencil eraser rolling around
behind the front seal

I gotta send the vig off too
to get cleaned out
might have em up the stall a little also
the PI is tight compared to the yank 3000
Not to mention it didnt fit right
I had to space it with washers
IMO You shouldnt have to do that on such an expensive
TC
Well, By what you saw here I would have to say that the pump has broken lugs, thus why you have no gears. Now we have to find out why you had to use washers to space the converter?? I already have a call into PI and they are waiting for the converter to get there so they can check the build height.
I'm sure they will correct anything if there was a mistake and usually they will help me with any trans repairs if it was there fault. You should never have to use washers with one of these converters, IMO at least from my experience.
I'm sure will find out soon what happened here when I get the trans back and I here from PI. Until then will get you back on the road ASAP.

Chuck

Seems the trans builders and the converter builders would send along with there products some sort of basic gauge for the novis installer to get the converter properly seated.

Plan one is 236/230 a little more lift and a tighter lsa (Rick Squires' cam from his 396) -- basically the same cam, but a reverse split and less overlap. Plan two... depends a lot on what Joe Vinci tells me later this afternoon
