Honestly, it doesn't sound like ANYONE can build a trans to stand up to the power/abuse we dish out. As you read, mine blew up on the 3rd day of having it back and roughly 250 miles. I got scared away from some of the "big dogs" building my trans after hearing too many horror stories. So I went with a recommended local builder. A lot of good that did me!
Seriously though, I think the quote of "it's not a matter of if it will blow up, but when......." stands true with most transmissions, built or not. The companies all have good customer service and take care of us, but the down time and cost to uninstall and reinstall is a killer.

The only reason I didn't set "up" to an 80 is my all-wheel drive. I've had too many overpowered rear-wheel-drive vehicles that were worthless on the street (ie. too much power for any tire combo). No one wanted to tackle a 80 with all or 4-wheel drive, and it sounds like getting it to that point would cost to much to be realistic.
I figure I have a 1 year/12k warranty to beat on it where it won't cost me anything!

Im going to do it right the first time and with the saved money Im going to go as crazy as possible. Im not sure how much boost a T trim will support on a 402, but it will definately necessitate a 4L80.
