Exhaust cut-outs on our trucks?
#11
i have a cut-out on my truck and i did really like it, but i did lose a little of my low end power but gain top end and it sounds great.
But yesterday i got to some serious offroading yesterday and learn that a cut-out isnt ideal for offroading especially when going through water so ill be taking it off sone and getting a spintech exhaust with the X-pipe

I can't say I noticed a difference in power due to my uncalibrated "butt-o-meter" but what I did notice was that the truck didn't need to rev as hard just before shifting as it did with the much more restrictive stock system.

I know Patrick G dynoed his stock Tahoe muffler on the truck and then dropped the Muffler and dynoed..He picked up only 8 to 9 RWHP.. Thats not much power gain for all the noise the aftermarket cat-backs make and bucks they cost...In my opinion but I like things sneaky quiet.. I prefer cut -outs for the track but they only help my 6100 lb truck about .08 at the track..I mainly use them to scare mustangs..
I do love my aftermarket intake. It was a lot cheaper than a cat-back and I got larger gains in ET from it ,,, even over my duel 3.5" cut outs..

Almost a tenth is worth it to me then. I figure thats around 8-10HP for $50
My main concern now is I am seriously thinking about buying a Whipple for the truck so opening up the exhaust will be paramount and I just installed heads/cam on my T/A so I cant afford a cat-back for the truck.
