The only gripe I have with the VSC is that you can't set the turn off temp. This makes it kinda flutter on and off as it reaches the turn on temp after cooling the coolant down. Other than that one thing it works great.
I'm with you 100% on that one.

I used one of the pins out of the red side that controls the 4wheel drive switch. Since I don't have 4wd I pulled that pin out cut the wire and plugged it into the pin 42. I you want I can look up the number of that pin for you.

some people have lt1 fans but i think every will recommend ls1 fans instead. they fit better i guess is the reason. 98 through 02 for the ls1 and 93 through 97 on the lt1.

can't seem to find any at any junkyard. One I called said if they had them it would be $150!!! That's crazy!! I might just put the stock fan clutch back on.... BTW, if I happen to find some for cheap how do they attach to our trucks exactly?

I'm with you 100% on that one.
This is from another forum concerning the "fluttering on and off" of the e-fans

"I came up with two easy solutions to that - I also observed it on mine after install.
Method 1 - Take a 2" diameter piece of styrofoam and cut a slice into it from the center out the legth of its radius. Slide the wires into the cut and push the styrofoam disc up against the core.
Method 2 - Fill the core surrounding the sensor with RTV.

The idea here is to stop air from the fans from cooling the fins that the sensor is in contact with. That is what's creating the cycling. The sensor is cooling itself, then instantly reheating, then cooling, etc... Flowing air must be eliminated from the temperature sampling process. "

Here's some info and insight/opinion about wiring the flex e-fans to the computer...
"You can. This output is not variable though and must be connected to a relay to power the fans. There is only one fan terminal that I know of. A second fan could be connected to a relay powered directly from the A/C clutch circuit. I feel this would be less than optimal though for two reasons - the condensor needs airflow through it over its entire dimensional area and also because the cycling of the fan(s) at full power with the A/C clutch circuit creates huge electrical system surges. Surges like that are terrible on alternator diodes. This problem was fixed with the VSC since it brings the fans up softly when the A/C clutch input signal kicks in. On the OEM ECM, the A/C clutch circuit is already gated to the electric fan circuit. The A/C clutch passes through the ECM for idle compensation, WOT inhibiter, and electric fan operation."

I think I'll just use the VSC and use one of the cheapo fixes for the flutter problem

You can buy a "pin" to go into the Blue 42 spot in the pcm at an electronis store. RadioShack comes to mind. I don't know where all they are located in the country, but I got mine from Fry's Electronics.

***It is a .062 pin connector size that you need. Make sure it is a male one also. The box I got came with male and female pins.
